Popular Indian Trail restaurant to partially reopen after fire
INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Biscuitville Fresh Southern restaurant in Union County is set to partially reopen after a fire at its facility earlier this month. The company announced it will open drive-thru services on Thursday.
“Biscuitville’s Development team is working hard to get repairs completed as soon as possible, and I know the Indian Trail restaurant staff will be so happy to see everyone back at the drive- thru October 16,” Biscuitville President and CEO Kathie Niven said. “The Indian Trail dining room reopening date has not been determined as interior renovation is currently in process. Biscuitville first opened its Indian Trail location February 2, 2010.”
The Stallings Fire Department helped put out the fire around midnight on Monday, Oct. 6. The Matthews, Bakers, Monroe and Hemby Bridge fire departments were alerted and also responded to the structure fire.
“We are grateful to all of the firefighters who responded and contained the damage to the Indian Trail restaurant so quickly,” Niven said.
The Union County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Union County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the fire soon after.
The joint criminal investigation has shown the fire may have been caused by illegal fireworks set off by a group of people in the area between the Biscuitville and the Cook Out.
The fire started in the void space of the roof of the Biscuitville. Damages may have exceeded $250,000.
There were no reported injuries.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the fire or anyone with footage to contact investigators immediately.
