Legacy isn’t just something we inherit. It’s something we carry forward. Sometimes it’s a lesson passed down through generations. Sometimes it’s gratitude for opportunity. Sometimes it’s respect for every person we meet. Whatever form it takes, heritage isn’t confined to the past. It continues to shape who we are, how we lead, how we serve others, and what we hope to pass on to future generations. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating our Hispanic team members and the family traditions, cultural values, and life experiences they carry forward as part of the Biscuitville family.
Every legacy begins with someone. Someone who teaches us a lesson. Someone who shows us what matters. Someone whose example continues to shape the way we live, work, and care for others. Meet two members of the Biscuitville family whose stories remind us that the most meaningful legacies aren’t left behind. They’re carried forward every day.

Growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, José Pérez learned that neighbors looked after one another like family. Those early lessons in respect, hospitality, and community shaped the way he saw the world. Throughout his career, José has believed that leadership begins with treating every person with dignity, whether he’s leading restaurant teams or serving people with disabilities in public service. Today, he continues to build teams where respect isn’t just encouraged, it becomes part of the culture.
What Continues Through Me: “It doesn’t matter if someone is Black, White, or Hispanic. We’re all people, and everyone deserves respect.”
Why It Matters: “Respect starts with how you treat the people around you every day.”
What I Hope to Pass On: “The culture you build should still be there even when you’re not.”

Growing up in a small farming community in Guanajuato, Mexico, Betty Caballero learned early the value of hard work and family. After moving to the United States at 17, she faced the challenge of learning a new language while building a new life. Through determination, encouragement from those who believed in her, and a deep appreciation for every opportunity she was given, Betty built a successful career and a life she is proud of today. The lessons she carries forward continue to shape how she works, leads, and encourages her children to pursue their own dreams.
What Continues Through Me: “Considering where I came from, I feel rich today, not because of what I own, but because of the opportunities I’ve been given.”
Why It Matters: “My husband always told me I could do more than I thought I could. That belief changed my life.”
What I Hope to Pass On: “I want my children to appreciate every opportunity they have because I know what it’s like to grow up without many.”
Through family traditions, hard-earned lessons, cultural pride, and everyday acts of care, our team members remind us that heritage isn’t simply where we come from. It’s what we share with others.
